A Typical Morning

I wake up to a new day. My head is clear and I feel my mind is on track.

For once I am up earlier then my wife since we started sleeping in the same bed again.

I am happy.

I whjsper sweet things in her ear and mention that I'm going to make her breakfast.

She smiles back at me reminding me how much fun we had last night.

I jump out of bed and stare at her in the mirror as she turns over in bed.

"Be right back with breakfast dear." I say.

"Okay hun." she says.

I walk downstairs tiptoeing to avoid waking the kids.

Yet I can't help but peek in their door and both of them are sound asleep.

I go to the kitchen and open the freezer to take out some bacon.

I turn up the stove and place the bacon in the frying pan.

While the bacon is sizzling I prepare two glasses of fresh milk, one for her and one for me.

After cooking the bacon and placing it in a dish I see my son enter the kitchen.

"Whats for breakfast dad?" he says.

"You're up early aren't you?" I say.

"Kinda." he says.

I immediately pour a glass of milk for my son. He downs the milk quickly and I put some pop tarts in the toaster, cinnamon they're his favorite. I watch my son momentarily then focus my attention back to my wife's breakfast.

I go upstairs knock quietly and give her exactly what she needs. Fresh bacon, and a nice glass of milk then she smiles at me and comments, "Thank you for making breakfast hon."

"I love you dear." I say.

For me this is all that matters right now a happy family.
