Happy Anniversary!

Well happy belated anniversary actually.

It was around this time last year I theorized a key principal (at least to me) in time travel.

Time Displacement Theory - Suggests that if an object is displaced in time it will always return to its point of origin.

And boy have I done a lot of reading on the subject. M-Theory, Schrodinger's cat (I call it dead cat theory.) While the math of the subject eludes me the linguistics of the subject makes sense to me.

For example there are in theory (Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 Universes.)

Type 1- Suggests that even if a time traveler attempts to alter the past to change the future. Whatever is written historically cannot be changed including future history. Two examples I can think of off the top of my head.

One - On a personal level, you try to tell yourself not to do something or to do something. Or perhaps even tell your own future. This cannot be done in that sense because if you had done something in the alternative your existence would have been altered causing the entirety of the universe to "time jump." Everyone would be everywhere, simultaneously,  nothing would make sense and the very universe your living in would collapse. On a minimal level say in passing you would also have the memory of meeting yourself and whatever you did posthumously in the alternative timeline would have to be repeated EXACTLY.

Two - In a historical sense you try to alter history by say attempting to prevent the French Revolution and save the royalty of the French Monarch. As hard as you try, even giving details, clues and precise warnings. The French Monarch would still fall, in fact the warning may have caused the death of the Monarch in the first place. Remember its history not lets play god. (Please don't even bother with durr why not just give them a time machine!)

This to me is the most logical and likely type of universe.

Type 2 - Suggests that a time traveler can alter history. However it does not specify how far that alteration can extend. In the time travelers case though they may have altered the past, their future most likely would still remain the same.

Again as with Type 1 and my mom said it best, "You can always add but you can't take away." That was in regards to cooking but hey if the shoe fits.

Type 3 - Suggests that a time traveler can change history and alternative universes exist. We all loved Back To The Future when Marty and Doc are in 1955 and they are trying to stop Biff from creating "Biff Land" in the "Alternate 1985" I laugh at this because any time traveler selfish enough to try anything like what Biff attempted would most likely find themselves dead sooner then they were actually meant to be.

If this theory were true, the ethics of the time traveler would be in question. He could do whatever he or she wants at their own whim. I don't find it amusing that people actually entertain this idea at all. I also do not consider this time travel but "sliding" like the TV series. Hey ya know does anyone know if they actually got back to their own universe? hahaha

Along with the usual google search, I found a so called time traveler who showed up in 2001. A "John Titor" first if this guy were from the future its possible he was indoctrinated. He sounds like some sort of super patriot at first. He talks about World War 3 between Russia and the USA that ends up nuclear.  He goes on to say pretty much, "Life is better now." clearly this guy if even from 2036 like he says has been disillusioned.

He goes on to say something about an old IBM computer that he was "ordered" to collect. As he is working for military or para-military. Which intrigued me because I myself was attempting to find some connection with the time function in the terminal in the unix console. (Without any luck)

About the war he even warns about a specific date in 2015 where not to be in Washingtion DC. Which completely contradicts his prior statement about "Death by Probability." I read almost all of it. What I got out of it? If hes a time traveler hes a fucking asshole. If hes a soldier hes got no sense of duty to his country whatsoever.

The youtube search proved interesting as well, particularly when I searched for "Proof of Time Travel."  First thing that showed up was a short clip of a 1929 Charlie Chaplin movie. I saw this woman in the background and I laughed because she looks like someone I know. (Though the quality is poor)

And back to Time Displacement Theory I unfortunately found a discrepancy with the theory.

If a point of origin is displaced in time it will not always return to the object.

In other words the time machine stays in the present and the time traveler enters the past or future without the time machine. How that works I don't know yet but I would hate to see the results of such an experiment.

That about covers it. Happy Anniversary TDP!
