On The Road To San Francisco & Back
September ended up being a fantastic month.
I spent one week in California catching up with family.
I packed a lot into a small period of travel time.
I even checked in on old friends that still live out west that I know from here in NY and met up with a family member I'd never met before.
I flew Jetblue and planned this months in advance.
I was considering cancelling because I wasn't sure if I could afford it.
Fortunately I found a BNB through expedia that was $50 a night for a room.
It was perfect for me.
(Airbnb banned me previously in 2019) its actually a rather tragic story that resulted in a psychiatric hospitalization.
Because of the way I was treated I'll never trust Airbnb again or anyone who shares their house with it.
Sell your airbnb shares because they suck.
Anyway I rented through Enterprise and they upsold me which pissed me off but I needed the car.
It was a Nissan Mini SUV that had more power and better gas mileage then my Chevy Cruze.
It worked out nicely.
I spent about $50 in gas for the whole trip.
I ended up going from the San Francisco area to visit family, down to Santa Cruz to visit my cousin, then back up to San Jose to visit the old Fry's Electronics Building.
It was a legendary institution, it was almost like newegg but it was an in person experience.
Each Fry's store had a different theme.
The one on Brokaw rd. had a Mayan theme.
The old science teacher that taught me what I know. (Who also has passed away this year)
Once in a while he would take me to Fry's Electronics to buy computer components that I wanted.
I miss those days, I miss that science teacher too.
I wanted to take photos of the Fry's Electronics building on Brokaw rd. and document it before they tear it down. Unfortunately it was gated and I couldn't jump the fence without being seen. Otherwise its now this old relic to a bygone era where you could walk in and buy some parts on discount or even wholesale prices (if you were lucky) Personally I think they should have tried to find a bail out or a buyer like teaming up with Newegg would have been brilliant and kept the store alive while the quarantine sorted itself out. Who knows though?
All I know is that now you have this post-modern ancient like architecture in the middle of San Jose and its just sitting there like an abandoned civilization once was there.
I left California with a smile & had a good time.
I sold some shares and made some money.
However the stocks I'm gambling on now are tanking.
Black Jack anyone?
The economy is in dire straights from debt, "covid", inflation and other factors.
I think we won't see another economic boom until 2024 where the market will have confidence again.
I really have lost faith in the current government some of the rhetorical speeches are sounding a lot like another statesmen we just saw exit the stage. Though the lesser of two evils there is a kind of aloofness to the way this government conducts policy. Not anticipating events, and making demands from the other party without an offer of compromise is not really bipartisan at all.
*Sigh*
Politics
It seems like everyone is ditching the market.
With the unpredictability & uncertainty of this market I should pull out but my pride is telling me not to.
That 2024 is only two and a quarter years away.
I could have done a stock reset and sold what I have then bought in again later but again pride.
Who knows how the market will look by December/January
I'm more worried about March should they consider locking down again it will devastate the economy to the point of agony.
I don't know about you but my grocery bill went up from what should be $50 to $100 for the same bag of groceries. Thats a bad indicator for me. It means I can't afford as much because of my standard of living.
Meanwhile my brother and I bicker over money.
My friend who I love dearly has distanced herself from me and its been painful not to have her trust back. Of course if I were a millionaire she would treat me so much differently.
I expected October to be the first return to going to see music shows but the show I wanted to see got cancelled. I really wanted to see Frontline Assembly and they were going to be at a local venue. The headliner band cancelled the tour and replaced them. I subsequently asked for a refund. Such a shitty thing to do to in that industry is replace your support just when the tour is about to get started. I doubt they'll fulfill the refund either knowing how ticketmaster is. (I absolutely hate ticketmaster because I knew someone in highschool whose dad claimed to have founded it) I haven't talked to that person in 20 years but I expect they moved out of town a long time ago.
I did have some dreams, plenty of them, but very vague and distant.
There was one specific to a stock and I am hoping the dream is prophetic and the shares fly soon.
I expect the remainder of this year to be quiet, I have one last adventure at the end of October but after that it will be back to just working and creating while trying to figure out what the next steps are for the next year. My time travel ambitions are years and years away but at some point people will take note as to the technologies validity.
Keepin' it square.
